Where are you in college? Major/Minor and why?

I'm enrolled at the University of Oregon majoring in Data Science, with a minor in Sports Business. I chose UO because I felt it gave me the best chance to pave a way for myself in the sports industry. I chose a major that had application in the sports industry, but one that also contained elements that were interesting to me and provided an alternate route if for some reason I chose to move away from sports in the future.

Favorite memory at Parish?

My Junior year Rover Trip on the road to Huntsville, AL. To this day, this was the best team I was ever a part of. Every team member was bought into creating the best possible version of these rovers at each stage of this process. From the drive starting with watching Tiger Woods win his first major in over a decade on a tiny phone screen to having a tire blowout to playing cards for hours at a time, it truly was an unforgettable road trip. Always grateful to Mrs. Makins and Mr. Cribbs for that unique opportunity and immensely proud of how far the Rover team has come since then.

Other stand-out memories of Parish?

1)  ParishAbroad trip to Morocco. This is my favorite country I have visited! I'm thankful for Coach Dunn and Mrs. Yousfi-Roy for exposing us to such a diverse part of the world. We had the opportunity to see all Morocco had to offer, whether it was in the always-busy markets of Marakesh, in our graciously hospitable homestays up in the Atlas Mountains, or on the tranquil beaches of Essaouira.

2)  Parish Varsity Basketball Team Camp at Baylor University. Care-free fun and hoops in the summer with my teammates. Not much can top that.

Biggest accomplishment so far in college?

Getting elected as a Vice President for the Warsaw Sports Business Club at the University of Oregon.

Biggest lesson learned to date in college?

Just because you’ve got the time or money, does not mean you’ve got to use it.

You can’t live without your…?

Airpods. Aside from listening to music all the time, they are really helpful if I need to take a quick call/meeting.

What do you miss most about Parish?

I miss hearing Mr. Abronowitz yell “be free my children… fly fly away!” every day.

Would you like to give a shout-out to a former Parish faculty/staff member?

I was in Dr. McGarrity’s 7th grade Humanities class 8+ years ago, yet I vividly remember a handful of moments from my time in that class. Always enjoyed the atmosphere in his class as well as his natural wit, charisma, and humor he infused into each of our lessons. Liverpool is overrated though. Several other faculty and staff members made an impact on me during my time at Parish and beyond. Although I can’t name them all, I’m confident those people know who they are and I’m thankful for their help every day.

Do you have any advice for our newest Parish alumni?

Always try or be willing to pay it forward. That might be hard for some who have just become alumni, but you’ll quickly learn that there will be people who invest in you and only want the best for you. If the opportunity presents itself, be that person for someone else because sometimes that’s all it takes to reach that next step.

What has brought you back to Parish as an alumni?

It’s always fun to come back and catch up with teachers, coaches, and other staff. Thus far, that has really been the only reason I’ve come back to campus, but each time I see someone new after a long time, it’s refreshing and comforting to reminisce a little bit.
