Head Coach: Brooke Roney 

Coach Roney is dedicated to the development of her students and athletes in all aspects of their lives, including physically, mentally, and emotionally. She has decades of experience working with all ages of student-athletes, ranging from 3 years to 22 years. She is passionate about growing girls’ participation in sports as well as multi-sport athletes being able to compete for as long as they can in all the sports they love.

A native of Dallas, Texas, she grew up playing soccer for the D’Feeters ‘79, who finished 4th at the US Youth Soccer Nationals in 1996. She received a full scholarship to play at the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA, where she became a 3-time CAA All-Conference Player, receiving NCAA All-American and Academic All-American honors in 2000. She continues to be the program’s all-time leader in goals and points and was inducted into the University of Richmond Hall of Fame in 2013.  

After graduating with a B.A. in Psychology, Coach Roney continued her education at the University of Virginia, receiving her Masters in Education in Sport & Exercise Psychology. She wrote her thesis on the impact of positive coaching. While in Charlottesville, she began coaching as a Volunteer Assistant with the UVA Women’s Soccer program under Head Coach Steve Swanson. She also began her career as a youth coach with the SOCA youth soccer club.

She returned to the Richmond soccer program as an Assistant Coach from 2003 to 2007. In 2008, she began coaching at Deep Run High School in Glen Allen, VA.  As the program’s co-head coach from 2010-2012, Coach Roney received District & Regional Coach of the Year honors in 2011, leading the Wildcats to a 20-0-1 record, a #1 ranking in the state of Virginia, and a #6 ranking in the nation by the ESPN Rise Poll. 

After relocating back to Dallas in 2012 to be closer to her family, Coach Roney found her passion for teaching physical education in addition to coaching soccer. She has coached several YMCA recreational teams in additional to multiple summer camps, clinics, and personal training. She most recently coached the Good Shepherd MS Girls’ soccer team and track team, leading them to TAPS Championships in soccer in 2024 and track and field championships in 2023 and 2024.

She and her husband Jim live in Dallas with their daughter, Peyton, who has verbally committed to playing Division 1 lacrosse at Stetson University in Florida. In her free time, she loves traveling with her family, watching her daughter play, and lounging around the house with her dog and two cats.
