Lacrosse Boys
Parish Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse battled Fort Worth in the first round of THSLL District Playoffs on Monday, April 29. Parish qualified as the fifth seed out of 10 total North District teams who qualified.  Fort Worth was seeded sixth. This was only the third time in Parish boys’ lacrosse history that the team qualified for playoffs, and was the first time ever to host a home playoff game.

Parish started very quickly finishing the first quarter leading 5-2, and the half at 9-3.  The third quarter was evenly split with both teams scoring two goals (11-5).  Fort Worth as predicted put in a great effort in the fourth quarter but was only able to score three goals with Andrew Kaleigh ‘20 making some great saves late in the game to help Parish win 11-8.

This also marks the first time in school history that Parish boys’ lacrosse qualified for the State Championship Super Regionals (top 16 teams).  The team is headed to San Antonio on May 4 as the North number four seed, to play Smithson Valley (the San Antonio number one seed).  With a Saturday win, the team would then take on the winner of Westlake vs. Pearland on Sunday. The following weekend McKinney is hosting the State Championship Final Four.

The Panthers improved to 7-3 on their divisional season.

Highlights of the game included Daniel Steckler ’19 scoring four goals and two assists, Henry Kull ’20 – three goals and two assists, Cale Watkins ’19 – two goals, Reid Boisture ’20 – one goal and 1 assist, and Preston Shanks ’20 – one goal.  Defensively Adam Redd had six ground balls and one caused turnover.

On May 4, Parish Varsity Boys’ Lacrosse played in their first ever THSLL Super Regional (division’s top 16 teams in the state) in San Antonio versus Smithson Valley. Parish qualified as the North District number four seed, and Smithson Valley as the San Antonio district number one seed. The winner played again on May 5 for a slot as a State Championship Final Four team.

Parish battled hard through all four quarters in the San Antonio heat, but wore down and lost 18-6 against their tournament tested opponent. Smithson Valley went on to win Sunday and advance to the State Semifinals. The Panthers ended their season with a divisional record of 7-4. Smithson Valley improved to a record of 11-1.

Highlights of the game included Reid Boisture ’20 scoring four goals and Cale Watkins '19 two goals. James Dodson ’20 took face-offs for the first time this season and went four for four.

Parish is looking to use this year as a baseline for future expectations and accomplishments. Congratulations Panthers on a great season!
